First form video
« on: January 18, 2017, 01:46:00 PM »
Hi guys. I'm a few weeks in now, and have been trying to use the info I've found here as much as possible. Figured it was time to try a video. I was filming by propping my phone up on top of the car so I know it's kinda crappy. Will try to do better with the camera next time!

As far as things I think I'm doing wrong, I don't know why my string elbow always wants to cam upwards, I don't know if I've got too much or not enough bend in my bow arm, and of course don't know if my release is right. Hopefully you guys can see enough here to give me some pointers.

Also, I see guys talking about using the point of the arrow to aim, seeing the tip of the arrow and aligning it at some point under the desired point of impact. When I try this, my point has to be about a foot low and 8 inches to the left of where I want to hit. What's up with that?

You're looking good for just a few weeks!

The bow arm might be an alignment issue. It seems your bow shoulder is back some. Try getting your shoulders pointing towards the target by twisting slightly at the waist. It'll make it easier to hold steady through the shot. Speaking of which, it looks like you're using a little extra muscle to keep your hand on your face. Letting your hand slide to the back of your neck will promote a smooth release and use less effort. Two small suggestions for otherwise good shooting!

At close range your point will be below the spot. Farther the nock is from your eye, the bigger the gap. The closer the nock to the eye, the smaller the gap. Aiming left is likely because your arrows are too weak. If you can group them, though, you can tune the bow to slightly change the point of impact.
