Brace height??
« on: February 10, 2017, 11:55:00 PM »
Need help.... As y'all know I recently purchased a 1968 56" Bear Grizzly. I also purchased a new 52" endless loop b50 for it. I was recommended to shoot it around 8" brace height. Well I strung the bow and let it sit for 5 days to let the string stretch out. However, I cannot get the brace height under 9" and that's completely untwisted... Thoughts?

I would send the string back, if possible, and get a 53" string.  A brace height 1" too high puts excessive stress on a bow, particularly an old bow.

Okay. Good advice! Isn't the rule of thumb flr strings to be 4" shorter then bow length? And 3" on longbows?

Possibly, but you've just proven that that particular rule does not apply to your Bear bow.  I assume you've measured the new string and it really is 52"?

Yes sir. Exactly 52" I followed your advice an ordered a 53" last night. I guess I'm just nervous because no has been able to confirm what the manufacturer brace height specs for a 1968 56" Grizzly should be.
