im having a hard time being consistent with my release, i hook the string in my first digits wouldnt this be a deep hook?

I use a real deep hook. In the first joints. Keep your pinky in and your thumb down and you'll have a cleaner release. A deep hook takes the pressure off you fingers .

i just tried the thumb over the pinky nail and down and i cant believe that such a little thing could make a difference what exactly does this do? and what could i have been doing wrong?
