3 under
« on: March 28, 2018, 05:23:45 PM »
I am in the process of figuring out this 3 under game.  The question I have is why some of my hunting weight bows show spine way to stiff when all I have done is changed from split to 3 under and others don't?  My 3D bow didn't have this problem.  It has me puzzled.

Is your 3D bow longer than your hunting bows?

My advice would be to hold off on tuning until you give youself a chance to refine your form w 3 under.  I can tell you that it took me awhile when i switched from split to apache, but it has been worth it.  I think once you settle in you will find things to be more forgiving tune wise than they are now.

In my case things just seemed to settle in after a while. Bow got quieter too. At first 3 under was louder?? No idea what changed,I guess we adapt. I would go with what the Rifleman said.>>>----> Ken

I am stacking arrows with the bows that work.  What I don't understand is why some don't.  I managed to win the second 3D I shot in since I started down this road.  I had to reduce the performance of my 3D setup because my close in gaps were so huge.  Other than the struggle to release when I have the arrow tip where it is supposed to be there have been a bunch of benefits from the change over.

May be that some of your bows are tillered better suited for 3 under shooting.

Also going to 3 under you will be shooting a little less weight out of the bow, causing arrows that may be on the verge to act stiffer.

Roy can you tell me why that drop in weight would occur.  I am actually drawing about a 1/4" more.

Thanks

I can't see how you could draw the bow further, going to three under anchor.

The lower you hold on the string, the less distance you will pull the bow back.

Unless you are drawing past your split anchor point.

Either way, you changed your hand contact drawing point on the string.
