Easy to fix meals
« on: April 25, 2003, 11:32:00 AM »
The handiest item I  have found in a long time is a vacuum sealer. When I make meals at home and there is a portion left over I vacuumn seal the food, burritos, manicotti, stew, etc. Toss the package in the freezer till needed. Even though the pack was frozen when you put it in the cooler, the food is still OK after thawing as long as it is kept in the cooler. In camp just place the sealed meal in boiling water til you feel it is hot enough. Cut the bag open & eat, don't even need a plate! They don't lose or change flavor.

I used my food saver sealer today for the first time.  I like it and plan to freeze fome meals this week to take to deer camp this weekend.  Thanks for the tip...the less cleanup the better!

I use it for about everthing too. Soup stock and just add egg noodles at camp, chili, stuffed cabbage, about anything you want to prepare and just throw into a pot of boiling water and open and serve. Greatest tool i ever owned. Never will be without one.........Mac~
