cracked CE 150 repair?
« on: November 26, 2007, 12:09:00 PM »
So I was out stumping with my nephew this weekend and sent one bouncing between some small holly trees. Footed the point end- no damage there, but it blew out the nock.

On a closer look, I found a smudge of bark on the shaft between the feathers, and about a 3/4" crack in the shaft at the nock end.

Can this be SAFELY repaired? Superglue and thread wrap or epoxy and aluminum? Cutting it shorter is not really an option, but I'd rather toss the arrow than risk it blowing up and injecting some carbon into my arm. Or dry-firing.

And how come my nephew never breaks any of his arrows? Little booger....

When in doubt throw it out.

Toss it. Damaged carbons need to be cut or tossed.

I'd throw it away.  Not worth the risk.
All the best,

Toss it, damaged carbon on the nock end can spell bad news.  If it an inch or so from the point then I don't worry about it much.
Sights, SIGHTS, we don't need no stinkin sights!!!!!

What some guys said, if it is only a 3/4" crack cut it clean and ya can add a liitle weight and it will fly well for ya. If it is the point end than ya can repair it as long as it is at the very end. Shawn

There are pictures around of shattered carbons imbedded in the shooters hand/wrist.

I wouldn't want to be facng the surgery required to repair that kind of damage, for the price of one lousey arrow.

Throw it out.
