Venison shoulder roast???????
« on: November 22, 2009, 11:38:00 AM »
I have two shoulders of venison my buddy gave me.
It is a Florida deer and the shoulders are small.
Do I cook them with the shoulder blade in or bone them out and plan on a different recipe(stew?). I like to to have some venison on the table since it was part of original Thanksgiving meal.Thanks.

James, good eating there! I have always boned out the shoulders befor cooking, but have ate othe venison with bone-in, someone elses.

I would either pressure cook, with seasoning, carrots potatoes, celery, turnips and such, gooood eating. Use a cooking time such as for a beef chuck roast.

Or you could cut-up into stew chunks and do an all day or night stew in crockpot. My recipe has stewed tomatoes and tapioca pudding in it.

Or for a traditional type meal, dry rub sesaon, overnight in fridge, put on grill or smoker and enjoy!
