CX Heritage 150's a new weight?

I have shot 150's and they used to be 10gpi. I just got a new doz. today from 3R's and they are 11 gpi. same spine approx. Is this new or did I end up with a fluke?  Doug( I have a good scale)

They may be miss marked. 250's are supposed to be 11gpi.

Thats what I thought too. The spine is for a 150, according to my spine tester. I just talked to 3R's their 150's weighted the same as mine 11gpi. this might come as a suprise to some, it added 30 grains to my set up. Maybe it will help my shooting........

I Have shot Heritage 150s for 2 years now and they all weigh 10gpi. 3Rivers and you have gotten a batch that had to be marked wrong. I recieved a dozen two weeks ago from Keystone and they were a new fresh batch just recieved by them and they all weigh as advertised, 10gpi. Shawn

Shawn, could you give me Keystones number or web? I'm not sure what you mean by marked wrong... these are spined at about 68-70 on my tester, which is what my old 10gpi 150's spined at. I would imagine 250's spine at 80-85. My best guess is the whole batch from the factory is messed up or they have changed the weight. I'm just curious what the date is on the doz. shafts you bought? I've weighed my 150s and have seen similar results. My 30 inch 150s with fletchings and standard inserts(no field tip/BH) weigh 370gr. This is at least 30gr heavier than they would if they were 10gpi. I have been told on more than one ocassion by a certain "carbon guru" that I was wrong, but the scales don't lie. You are not the first person that has told me of similar weight results with the 150s. I got part of mine from Keystone and part of them in a trade with another gang member. They all yield the same results(approx 11gr/inch).

i agree with pseman.all my 150's weigh in at 11gpi.

They weigh 10gpi, ya do not count the insert nock and fletches just the shaft. What are ya guys doing, that is all added on after the shaft is done. I could say the weigh 15-16 grains per inch if I added the broadhead. The shafts weigh 10gpi. no if, ands or buts about it. Shawn

Okay you got me wondering what my CX 150’s weigh. I have some 150’s purchased from Blackwidow about a year and a half ago. When I got them I checked them for consistent weight and consistent spine. They where excellent on both accounts and as far as I was concerned, that was what is important.

Now to the test. I dug out a CX 150 that I had broken the tip off of. Then I cut 10 inches a little long from the middle of the shaft just below the carbon express sticker. I didn’t want the sticker to throw the grains per inch off. I then filed the shaft to as near 10 inches as I am humanly capable of making sure to keep the ends squared off. I cleaned all dust from the shaft so as to remove as many variables as possible. I then weighed the 10 inch section on my RCBS 10-10 reloading scale. The weight of that of that ten inch section was 107.8 grains. This is just raw info from one shaft. Do what you wish with it. Maybe someone else could check there’s for comparison.

I have a very accurate digital scale, it is a PACT. I weighed one about 15 minutes after my last post, 29" shaft, I removed the nock and insert and stripped it of everything. It weighed exactly 293.35 grains, that to me is very cloose to 10gpi. I have weighed others and they are all very close to 10gpi, some 10.2 others 10.5 but none over that. Shawn

Others have scales also Shawn. In fact mine have been weighed on both digital scales and RCBS reloading scales. My fletchings, inserts, nocks, and wraps weigh at most 45grains(5gr per feather, 11.5gr insert, 9gr nock, and 10gr wrap). With just fletchings, nock, wrap, and inserts, my 150s weigh 370gr on the number. That leaves approx 325 grains of weight for the 30" shaft. I can divide as well and that is approx 11gpi(10.8 to be exact). Sorry.

Actually the shafts weighted 357 grains, with out nocks, inserts, broadheads, or anything. They were uncut, new shafts, which measure 32.5 inches. They were very consistent throughout the dozen. I don't know much about the carbon arrow manufacture process, but I believe we are all measuring correctly, but probably measuring different batches, made at different times. When I talked to the Tech at 3R's he measured probably 5 and got 365 grains, but he did leave the nock on. They are great shafts, spine consistently, and look good in my opinion. I did send mine back because I shoot a "girly" bow, and 30 grains more per arrow would make for some heavy arrows.  Doug

I have to agree with Doug, I know a lot of us have scales but it must have to do with certain batches. Mine are all at least 1 year old and mine all weigh between 10 and 10.45 gpi. I have gone thru about 10 dozen of these and that is what they came out to. The company also says that they weigh 10gpi. and they try and keep them as close to that as possible, yes I have spoke to several reps. from CE. Shawn
