Grizzly Broadhead note.....
« on: April 29, 2003, 10:21:00 PM »
Just noticed that my Grizzlys have a ridge or bead around the base of the furrel.  It aint much, but I'm gonna sand mine off so there's no bump at the end of the furrel.  Trying to max out my buff set up, and I might as well streamline this ittie bittie drag causer.

Anyone else notice this with there Grizzlys?

T... Is it paint? What's the diameter of the Nitro's at the tip? Could you reduce the diameter of the ferrule to match the shaft?

Charlie,

No, its not paint...its METAL!!!  A little tiny bead running the outside perimeter of the base of the furrel.

Not sure of the size of the Nitro's front end, but is a smidgin smaller than the Grizz furrel.....Just what the Dr. ordered   :bigsmyl:

Terry ... don't see any on mine ... but they are all a few years old (I bought "IN BULK" a few years back).  If I did see any, I'd take them off too!

Terry, The last set of Grizzlys that I bought had a slight "burr" at the base of the ferrule.  I think this is what you're refering to.  Figured it was from when the metal was stamped out.  At the time, didn't think it was worth frettin over.  Doubt I'll ever take on anything dangerous, but think I'll remove it just the same.  Thanks for pointing it out!

Tarz, yep all the Grizzly's I get have it, its just the fine burr left from the stamping dies. Only perfectionist would notice it!  :)  In my quest for all ort penetration, I remove it too. I just take a small file to the rear edge of the blades and ferrule. Rick

Bayou,

The arrow I loaded to 945 grains was a Nitro Gold.

I've been shooting the Nitro Trad Lites since they came out.  Most versital no-brainer arrow I have found for all my set ups....except this quest for buff bow/arrow.

At 29"s BOP.....I can shoot them from any bow I own, with any head I want.  Perfect flight from every bow, and the go where I'm looking.

Terry,

Anyone on your vendor list sell the Nitros'?  I have been wanting to try some carbons out of my curve and was thinking I'd try the Trad. Lites or Carbonwood 4000s.  Maybe I'll get a half dozen of each and compare.
