Australian Buff; One More Spot
« on: March 27, 2005, 08:41:00 PM »
We have one spot left for a tremendous hunt for asiatic water buffalo first week in August. I made the exploratory trip to this area last year and it is fantastic. The hunt is very reasonably priced, in a highly remeote unfenced area in northern Australia that receives no hunting pressure. Fishing is fantastic. Experienced bowhunters should feel free to contact me for a look at the details. Don

Someone told me there is nice people in Oz... but poor coffee makers! This true Don?

Oz is definitely our new favorite country! This is our fourth trip in as many years: great folks, great bowhunting, great saltwater fly-fishing... the list goes on. But somebody really does have to give our Aussie mates some coffee- making lessons! I'm sure it's the old Commonwealth influence, but to us Yanks tea just doesn't make it. Cheers, Don

Yeah, what is with that. Even in the fuel stops, you would think the truckies would insist upon good coffee and then what do you find, but a 40 cup pot full of.....HOT WATER and that powdered stuff!

That instant coffee they sell over here is nasty stuff and shouldn't be drunk. Same as tea, good tea does not come in a bag with a string on it, the tea leaves used in tea bags are the second rate poor quality leaves. Same as that instant tea powder in a bottle, you've gotta be having me on, people only drink that for a dare don't they?...Glenn...

Aussie longbow, G'day Al I've finally tracked you down. Mackay, that'll explain why I can't catch up with you. G'day Glenn and Rick it's taken me a few years but I've figured out the coffee thing. I have three cups of our coffee before daylight, Don has one of his and we're both ready to go hunting. The only difference I can figure, is the spoon won't stand up in mine!
I'll make sure we have the right coffee in the Buff camp Don, no worries.
It will be a great hunt in August Don,with the new Buff camp, endless new country to explore and all those big bulls we saw last year. Yep Rick and that good old "Billy Tea"

Rick, nothing like a good cup of Billy Tea boiled in the billy over an open fire and the somke has falvoured the water, best cuppa going I reckon, it tastes really good when it's cold as well. If you use the black billy tea in a damper it gives it a unique flavour and a golden colour.
G'day Bill and Al...Glenn...

Don, come South to Melbourne and i'll show you coffee the Italians themselves are proud of. You won't find any drinkable out bush, though...

Don,
I am interested in an Aussie buffalo and hog hunt for 2006.  Please PM me and give me some details. I am also a saltwater flyfishing fanatic.  Would love to catch a few fish down under as well.  Thanks, Brady

Brady -- I'm not smart enough to use the PM function so just drop me a line at [email protected] BTW, I have chased all kinds of saltwater species all over the world with fly rods and the fishing in Oz is second to none. Very easy to combine some world class fly-fishing with the buff hunt. Don

Don, as much as I would like to hunt with you again I'm sorry I can't do it this time. I will  chasing Mt goats in BC in August. Thought I might be back in Alberta this year when you are there but it looks like that isn't going to happen until at least next year now.

Wish you luck. Maybe next time.

Don, I'll do that. My wife and I have talked about going back to Africa next year but I haven't made any definite plans yet. The only other hunt I have booked past this year is a Dall sheep hunt in Alaska and that is in 2007.

Is Lori going to Austaila with you?

If I left Lori behind on a trip to Oz I would be sleeping in the kennel with the hounds. Don
