About three years ago (as I recall) that pic was sent to me and I put it on my web site (still there). At that time they said he was in the Air Force, stationed there. I don't know. The rest is close to the story I got. Forget now who sent it to me but I seem to recall someone in New England. I think i also put a pic of his huge paw. It'd be on one of my Gallery Pages, with the story.

This one has been going around for quite a while. It wasn't the biggest one ever recorded. It didn't weigh 1600 lbs. Don't believe everything you see on the internet. But there are some big bears in Alaska. Don

I knew his partner on that hunt, his name is Jim Urban. We make jokes all the time about it being an "Urban Legend" get it?
It's not the biggest but a great bear, they happened across it while deer hunting.

Yeah Jim was his (Tom?) partner on that hunt. If I remember the story right they stumbled upon the bear on a creek. Shot it, whooped & hollared & then had to drag the cape back to their cabin. Jim said that was not fun! I still can't beleive how the story got so exagerated and is still circling around today. Last time I saw Jim was just after he wacked a sheep near me and stopped by to show it to me.
The story truely is an "Urban"Legend! lol

Kid was a weapons troop stationed with Jim at Eielson, last heard he was in Virginia, Jim is currently stationed in Florida. I was supposed to be Jim's partner on this hunt, unexpected expenses kept me at home. Miss Alaska something fierce.
