Misplaced the one I found in the woods. Wanted to see if I could take another hog with it. Easy to sharpen with an Accu-Sharp. Flew great and passed through every time.

Cody, you can use these heads with complete confidence. I killed two caribou with the same 160 Ribtec. Very effective and tough head in my opinion.

They are by far my favorite two blade glue on BH.

IMO they have the best ferrule design for glue on heads since there is on no air lock when seating the shafts in the ferrule. This allows you to seat the taper very deeply and tightly in the ferrule.

Rik, I would hazard to guess that if the ribteks were sharpened with a single bevel, they would have performed at least as well as a grizzly on the buff. One thing that is neat about the longitudinal corrigation of the ribtek is that it causes the head to rotate in the same direction as a right helically fletched arrow.

I got a half dozen 160 gr's and put them on some Ash arrows I had to use with a sinew backed Osage bow that was made for me. I shot a young whitetail buck at about 8 yards and due to a less than perfect release on my part and a wired for sound deer that came unglued when I shot I ended up hitting it in the hip joint. Not good regardless of what broadhead you use, anyways the arrow came out about 40 yards into his exit from the area and he only traveled about 300 yards. I shot him right at dark and what was left of him after the coyotes were done (wasn't much) was recovered the next morning at sunrise. The front 3/8th of and inch of broadhead had folded over 90 degrees. Might have been a fluke but I haven't used them since. I also prefer to use the widest head I can so unless it one of Doug Campbell's damascus points or a knapped stone head I shoot 1.5 inches or wider. Never had any of those fail. My .02 cents worth. ARE YOU ABSOLUTELY SURE, that buck had not a hip joint made of ceramic - as for example those of my mother in law are ...?!?!

I never wrecked a 160W so far! Never shot a critte with them though - but lots of wood and other junk stuff. I think they are "relative" durable ...

I may very well of gotten a bad one as I have never heard of anyone else having a bad experience with them. There are many people that have had adverse experiences with many quality items before. I guess that is why there are so many broadheads on the market.

I killed a deer with one last year. Did not get complete penetration.

Thet are tough, easy to sharpen, but that ferrule style concerns me. In my very UN scientific penetration test, they did not penetrate as well as my favorite Magnus I.

BUT - many folks on here love them. My only 2 concerns are that that ferrule creates excessive drag, and that ferrule style makes it difficult to mount true.

The ferrule will not create drag if you fill the dips with epoxy or a quality hotmelt, you can smooth it over totally and have a slick surface.
Admittedly a bit more work than the usual glue on head. Tough guys these, I killed a steel pipe and a rock last year, they killed the shafts in return but the heads came out fine. Oh, and some game too. impalas

Ribteks are one of my favorite broadheads. I primarily use the 160's and 190's depending on how my arrows are tuning.

I shot the 145's this season for CA mule deer and split rib going in and going out, lungshot. The blade was still sharp and just needs to be touched up for action.

I've got quite a few zwickeys and snuffers that I use from time to time. Ribteks sharpen up faster for me. In the field when I am not carrying a monster file, the ribteks are definitely easier to get an edge that's "killin'" sharp.

The ferrule is a non issue and I've never filled the dips. I do have adequate hot melt to attach the head securely and the excess sits in the dips, but I wouldn't go out of my way to fill them flush.

Are Ribteks still available? I've still got some but might need to replenish my supply.

I just purchased two-dozen 190 grain Ribteks from Archery Supplies Australia (www.archeryshop.com.au). The Ribtek website said they are restructuring the business at present, and for the time-being, Archery Supplies are the (only?) outlet. I'm hoping to use them on camels and boars.

mine sharpened very easily.....kinda worried about the ferrul.....think i'm gonna smooth it out with a piece of scotch tape rienforced with super glue.....the......then they'll be ready!!

Don't bother, I do what Larry said, the excess fills in enough. But if you are more particular you could add more glue. Thousands of animals have been taken with this head, easy to sharpen, no frills and cost effective. There's nothing wrong with the design imho

Joseph, this reminds me of a recent thread about the Simmons Tree Shark. I remember pics of a folded tip on one, yet there were a majority of responses saying they would use nothing else.

I guess it might be a matter of experience and preference.

It is and there have been threads over the years that I have seen, mostly on another site where people had failures with Magnus and Zwickey broadheads. I have a Zwickey Delta that is on one of my stumping arrows and has been for years. I could sharpen it up and use it tomorrow after years of dirt,rocks, and stumps. I have used the other broadheads out of that half dozen for stumping also and they have held up good. I was just relating my experience of a 1 time incident and I also have a preference for wide broadheads. I have some 160 gr Snuffers I am going to be using. I like Big Holes in critters!

Big holes are VERY good!

One can break an Abrams tank if one runs it into something that will break it. I guess nothing is unbreakable.
