Hi everyone I can only wish we had a following of archery like you have over there, it would make things a lot easer when it comes to trying out kit!
I might end up coming over there to .....try n buy, on that note, are there any country type shows/fairs in Canada which deal in archery? the thing is I have friends in Alberta that I'm due to visit ....would make for a good double up!
I would like to thank all who've been in touch and given their advise so far, It's much appreciated, I'm always open to good advice so please feel free to keep it coming, as for the books I've put them on my Christmas list, have to wait n see now!
all the best
Jim

Hi Jim I am also new around here but everyone has made me feel right at home. There is a page on line that has a number of books that you can read on line or download to a word program the address is project gutenburg or such. Saxon Pope's book is on there I know for sure. Hope this helps

Jim, where in the UK do you live? I'm in Berkshire. PM me your number and I'd be happy to talk and give as much advice as I can!  ;)  Unfortunately, I'm leaving for Bulgaria on Tuesday evening and will be gone for nearly 2 months, but would love to chat before I go! There's a huge network of trad archers here in the UK. Have a look at the NFAS (The National Field Archery Society). You'll find out quite a lot about archery in the UK. They organise 3d shoots all around the UK almost all year round, which are a lot of fun! Great time to meet fellow archers and have a good shoot. Send me your number and I'll give you a call....Hope I can help!

good on ya Nige

Hi Jim good to have you join us mate.

i second what Shawn.L said for sure. as for buying bows in the uk, most of the archery equipment here is very expensive, and of the most part i have found it cheaper to buy it from the states, ship it over and pay the taxes, and its still cheaper.

there are some good deals to be had on the bidding site, but you'r prob better of getting something from someone on these classifieds, where some one would help you get set up.

im like you in that im not realy into the club side of archery but i do go to a few field archery shoots with the likes of Robtattoo and Nigel, and just shoot as an independant. They are 3d shoots and good fun.

im sure Rob will chime in if gets the chance, and help out with anything nige and i have missed.

otherwise feel free to PM or e-mail me if you got any questions.

where about do you live?

cheers and welcome to the gang  :wavey:

Hi, hope everyone had a good Christmas! things went well this end!
First of all I would like to thank all who gave up their time to put me on the right track!
Santa was very good to me! I me received instinctive shooting 1 and 2, "what a good read" so thanks again for the recommendations, I haven't contacted anyone as of yet but will do! right, can anyone tell me? are there any good archery stores in Edmonton, Calgary? thing is I have friends over there and it would make sense for me to do a bit of shopping while visiting.
all the best
