The above is a crude sketch of what I'd like to do:
Using a modified Ashby BH, a custom steel insert and a 300 AXIS ST shaft, make a UFOC arrow with as bullet-proof a setup as possible.
The BH mods would include milling out an annulus to move the shaft into the cone of the BH, then move the threads forward as shown. This way there is minimal stress on the threads/ferrule and the shaft is supported by the BH body until it's out on the full-section portion of he custom insert.
Clear as mud?
I know that modifying the Ashby BH is tough to do and may be impractical, but it seems to capture Dr Ashby's latest thoughts on dangerous game arrows.
Comments and tips appreciated, especially on how to hold/fixture the BH to do the milling.
