Arrows for Brownies.....
« on: February 19, 2014, 12:00:00 PM »
So I'm doing a Brwnie hunt up here on Kodiak in May, the arrows I had I decided weren't anywhere near what I needed so I made the change to wood. I'm shooting a 55lb @ 28" Samich Recurve.

So I ordered...
Dozen 75-80 Cedars
Woody Weight Test kit
Field Tip Test kit
Ace Straightener
Taper Tool

I'm figured I want at least 200gr of tip, single Bevel like the grizzly and the biggest Woody Weight behind it that the arrow will fly with.  Hopefully around 650grns or better total.

Sound like a starting point?  I've only shot carbon until now so this is all new to me.
Good hunting over good shooting

i don't think there is any reason you have to go that heavy.  and as far as carbons go there are many types that are tougher than wood and can be done up to a decent weight.  not saying wood wont work but don't be too hung up on weight as much as well matched and tuned with a really sharp head.  I personaly will be using a ad trad tipped with a 175 woodsman elite 3 blade for a brownie I hope.
