Browning Recurve Value Source
« on: September 07, 2006, 10:21:00 PM »
Does anyone know of a good reference for the value of Browing Recurve bows?  I ask because I was just given a very nice Browning Olympian recurve.  It is 64", 34# and is marked with what I assume is the seral number of 0211.  I know that it is approximately 35 years old and in very good condition.  I don't want to sell it but I am interested in what it may be worth.

Any information would be appreciated.
Thanks
-Matt

Alot of those Browning target bows were designed by Harry Drake. Drake bows were popular back in the 60's. I sold mine 47 lb. RH 64 in. for 150.00 and could have gotten 200.00.

Browning made some good bows.  The Olympian was a middle of the road target bow.  A decent shooter at an affordable price.  However, old bows are like antiques.  They are worth what someone will pay for them, no more, no less.  Your best bet is to go to ebay under archery and enter  Browning Olympian"  onvce it comes up, scan down on the left hand side and click on completed items.  This will show you what other Olympiams went for over the past 30 days.  That is about the best appraisal for the make and model as you will get.  Also it depend on who is bidding on them at the time.  I have seen a bow go for $100.00 and a couple of weeks later, pretty much the same bow went for $300.00.  Like I said, they are wworth what the high bidderis willing to pay.
