2 blade broadheads and planeing.
« on: December 01, 2007, 12:03:00 PM »
I noticed that if my arrow is slightly bent(aluminum) then the 2 blade broadhead flight could be affected greatly.  If I am using a snuffer on the same slightly bent arrow, the arrow flight somewhat corrects itself.

Has anyone seen this also.

just a question with a strait arrow   does it fly true   you should not be using a bent arrow regardless  it can have so many different variables on arrow flight it is never good to shoot a bent arrow  even if it is only slightly bent

i wouldnt shoot a broadhead on a bent arrow...roll the arrow on a flat surface if the arrow isnt rolling true and the broadhead isnt spinning true without wobble...then straighten the arrow and make sure everything is aligned.... proper tuning and arrow spine is key also....good luck ...

Even with a field point, a bent arrow would plane in  flight or cause accuracy problems at the least.Either straighten the arrow or use another unbent one for hunting,we owe it to the animals we hunt.

Back in the days of shooting broadheads in tournaments the three blade or bod-kin was always the favorite as they would shoot better.. Most likely being able to handles shafts a bit less than straight was one of it's virtues. Additionally a shaft that is bent into an "S" where the center point and both ends are on the same plane, (or spin on the same line) will shoot as well as a straight one

I just noticed that when I'm stump shooting or flinging arrows at my target in the backyard, some of my beat up arrows will be way off the mark when I put my old bear heads on.  As soon as I throw them snuffers on,  my arrows are shooting a lot straighter.
