Royal Knight recurve
« on: August 24, 2007, 10:08:00 PM »
Can anyone tell me anything about this bow?  It belonged to my father buy I have no idea how old it is.  Well, I know it has to be at least 38 years old because I remember shooting with my father when I was 5.

On the front it says "Royal Knight with BO KORE" and on the back it has a Scots crest with "Clan Gordon" under it.

I've asked around some of the better archery shops over the years and no one has any clue.

I am interested in where it was made, when it was made, the history of the mfr, etc.

Anyone have a clue?

I can take some pics, but the bow is pretty unremarkable save for the things I already mentioned.

I believe the Gordon bows were made in the 1960s.

Thanks.  I looked at that eeeeBay listing.  Two entirely different bows and his was missing at least one sticker (you can see the outline of it in the pic) but I do think it is the same company.

That said, I read up on the Gordons and while BO TUFF is often referred to I have yet to find any info on BO KORE.

That said, it seems like it must be a Gordon Plastics bow and I thank you for the lead.

eeeeBay as a research tool?  Who would have imagined?

Your bow was made in Scotland by Royal Scots bows. I believe, but could be mistaken, they were the prerunners to the Border Black Douglas bows of today. There was an article in an old TMB about these bows.
