Limb twist
« on: February 29, 2008, 05:50:00 PM »
I recently picked up an old Shakespear Wonderbow Super Necedah. It's in great shape, looks like new and has no stress cracks. The bow has'nt been stung in years. I put a string on only to dicover it has limb twist. The string walks off the centerline of the limbs about 1/4 inch or so. It is a 40#, 54" bow. Can this be fixed? Any info would be helpful.
Thanks

Twist it back the other way and hold it for about 30 seconds, then do it again. It may take 3-4 times but you should be able to get it OK.bowdoc

The shorter the bow the heavier the poundage the harder it is. Do what Bowdoc said and it should work on yours. If not fill the bathtub with hot water and stick the limb in the water for 30 seconds, then remove and twist it back and hold it like Bowdoc said. Don't leave it in the water for more than a minute. Don't use heat from a hairdryer. The hot water is the safest method on stubborn twists.

I twisted it without the hot water and it appears to have worked. Should I leave it strung for a couple of days? Does it hurt to keep these older bows strung? I appreciate your guys advise,
Thanks
