Bear Bow Quiver - Bear Victor Magnum T/D
« on: May 06, 2008, 06:20:00 AM »
According to the 1978 Bear Catalog the new Fred Bear Kodiak Quiver, Cat.# 3585, holding 8 arrows is not only for the compound bows but also for "Fred Bear Take-Down Bows manufactured since 1975".

I have a Bear Victor Magnum from which I don't know when it was made. It has the Bundi Black color which was also offered in 1974.

Since I have no opportunity for a comparison of the right side of the bow because in the Bear Catalogs only the left side (for rh-bows) is shown can any show me the difference between the 1975 production and the pre 1975 production of the Bear Victor Magnum and Bear Victor Kodiak bows?

My bow has two large black screws on the right side of the riser. Are these screws just covering the holes or are they also made for mounting the quiver to the riser?

My Victor Magnum riser only has the lower screw/bushing you described. Above the grip there is the adjustor hole for strike plate and Bear Medallion - that's it.

I prefer the 4-arrow one arm Kodiak quiver. It screws only to the lower bushing. You don't need 8 arrows anyways ...

Hello, Falk,

thank you for your quick response. By the way I sent you a PM not to long ago concerning your homepage and your affinity to Bear's take down bows.

Yours must be the pre75 version of the Victor Kodiak because exactly where the Bear button is located on your bow I have another big screw.

The color of your handle is this the original painting? I didn't see anything like this in the Bear catalogs.

Concerning the amount of arrows in a bow quiver I do agree with you but four-arrow-holding quivers are hard to find. At alpenpfeilchen.de they only have the 8-arrow-quivers. But better this one than none.

Where did you get yours and where did you buy your t/d bows?

Best wishes from the Teutoburger Wald

Stephan

If you can't find a 4 arrow quiver, get an 8 arrow quiver and only put 4 arrows in it,  DUH!!

The two screws are for mounting the Victor quiver.  It is the same quiver that mounts on the Bear Compounds.

Personally, for a bow quiver, I prefer the Kwickee 6 arrow quiver,  Mounts to the standard mounting holes on the riser, lightt weight, solid, silent, and holds plenty of arrows.

Stephan, never got your PM. Looked again - nope!
You'r correct, the Mag riser is refinished, it once was brown.
Alpenpfeilchen is not the only source for Bear Archery items. If you badly need that style of quiver, go ahead. But a bow can be shot without bowquiver. In fact, for many practise sessions a belt quiver takes more arrows, is far more convenient (for me) and pretty easy to make.

Jack yes, you can do that of course - clever trick    But I for one don't like the bulk of bigger bow quivers, no matter how many arrows you leave out. I use a Kwickee quiver on my Bill Stewart Signature T/D riser, which has the AMO standard bushings - BUT, that quiver will only hold three arrows   :D   It's hood is that small, it must have been designed with expandables in mind    "[dntthnk]"   It's the break-down version and a real nightmare to keep silent ... biggest problem being the braket by which is attaches to the bow. All tape and moleskin now ...!
