Tru-Oil on limbs..Help

Hey Guys I need some help.. I'm starting my first refinish. A pair of Bear t/d limbs peeling and scratched. I'm sanding them all the way down. My question is if I use TO on them how can I apply it streak free. I was going to sand between coats but not sure what # paper to use. Ordered decals from Al this week.  Thanks in advance...Mike

I use coffee filters to put on true oil and oooo steelwool between coats some like 600-1000 grit wet dry with steel wool you have to be careful with dust

I just use my fingers, and put it on very light.. I will do back side one day belly the next and lay the bow don't hang it..
If I get no runs I go 3-4 coats before the 0000 steel wool. Then use a tack rag before putting more one

Coffee filters sound good actually. I use a paper towel folded and apply a quarter sized amount. Limbs are easy, wipe on both sides in one go and wipe with long strokes.
Thin coats are better-you shouldn't have any streaks.
I steel wool between the last coats only. Usually 8 coats. Your limbs should come out great!
Dust has not been a problem-but that depends on your shop! LOL!!

yes the filters seem to put on a nice thin coat It just takes getting time to get the hang of it
I like using true oil on arrows as well

Tru oil is about the easiest finish to use and one of the best all around finishes...It works great on wood or fiberglass...Just keep your coats as thin as possible.One of those real cheep spounge brush,paint brushes also will work great...I would use some real fine steelwool or a scotch-brite pad in between coats.I kinda like the scotch brites a little better as they do not lieve that gray-ish coloring and little fibers of steel left behind from using the steelwool....bowdoc

Scotchbrite instead of steel wool!!, wish I had read this 20 minutes ago,I thought I was putting the last coat on the limbs and realized i did not wipe it down after steelwooling (rookie), so, I strip her down, again.
My tack cloth really leaves a waxie? film behind, is this normal? I wipe it off with alcohol, but doesn't it defeat the purpose if you have to clean the limbs after using the tack cloth?

Thanks to all for the help! I have a lot of sanding to do. I will give that foam brush a try Doc. will post pics when i'm done but it may be a week or so.
