King Quivers - Value????
« on: June 01, 2008, 03:49:00 PM »
Anyone know what kind of value the old King Quivers have?  I aquired one on a trade of some items.  I don't do any collecting, so I was thinking of selling/trading it but not sure what it may be worth.

I use to get those quite often back in the 90's in MN at flea markets.Never had a problem getting 30-50 out of em. I never considered them collectable, but some one else may.?I looked at it this way,How much does a leather back quiver with a zipper pouch and a knife sheath and a file and pencil sheath cost you today.?Those are good quality IMO and very useable. If it is nogahide, then quite a bit less.IMO

Personnally, I prefer the old King, Shakespeare, and Pearson quivers to what is made today.  Kind of a throwback to the golden years of Trad.  Lots of collectors prefer the old Bear quivers.  I much prefer what you have.

I think King made them for Pearson and Shakespeare.  I have a Pearson just like the one you have.  I use it strictly for 3-D.  I think I paid about $40.00 for it on e8ay, but yours looks like it may be in better shape.

As long as the leather is not dry rotted, the straps are solid, and the bottem has no cuts from broadhead, it should be in demand.  As far as what it is worth, it is the same as with old bows.  They are worth what someone will pay.  No more, no less.  Best bet is to put it on e8ay with a start bid of what you paid for it.  The bidders will decide what it is worth.

As far as I am conerned, it is a collectors item.  If you have any interest in traditional memorabilia, you should keep it.  Chances are you can never replace it for what you have in it, assuming that you got it cheap.  Don't just keep it, use it.  Maybe not for hunting, but for 3-D.  They give an aura of authenticity to he trad look.  Kind of a "fashon statement".

Of course if you want to make a direct sale to me, I would say itis worth about $10.00, including shipping.

The most important part of your hunting setup is the broadhead.  The rest is just the delivery system.
