Question about cane arrows

I just finished 4 cane arrows with trade points and they all shoot different.Do you guys spine test your shafts? What do I do now?

I make up a bunch and caul the arrows that are not shooting well. The arrow you think is best should model the next you try to fashion.

For uniform and consistant flight you really need to get their stiffest side against your bow. It's a little hard to find the stiff side(s) on these types of arrows without a spine tester. But if you have a good feel for arrows then try flexing your arrows and see if you can determine which side is which. Here's a good example for you. Aluminum and carbon shafts will show the same deflection all around their circumference on a spine tester but in wood or cane shafts this is seldom the case. In other words, the cane shafts can have strong/weak sides.-ART B

Howard, I spin (not spine)test mine, if they spin true they usually fly fine. Also I make sure mine weigh the same or at least within a few grains.

I have used Art B's suggestions on all of my cane and hardwood shoot arrows and they all fly very well.    Pat
