need 65 Kodiak Magnum - a busted one
« on: September 23, 2008, 08:31:00 PM »
anyone have any broken riser material from one-

bubinga and Brazilian rosewood?

I gotta make a knife to match one and I think that would be the best possible way to get it done.

Any ideas????

Thanks, Ike. I actually have bunches of rosewood and bubinga..separately...comparatively new.

The difficulty will be that I don't have the skillset to make new wood look like old, seasoned, sun-changed riser wood.

That's why I was asking for an old broken K-Mag, see? I really appreciate your generosity, though. That's what I love about TG!!!!

Oconee Dan made a knife handle out of a Bear Kodiak Hunter that He won at the TBG Banquet two years ago. I had donated it.  I did not know it had a crack in the riser.  it amade a beautiful knife handle being that he incorporated the accent stripe right down the middle of the handle.

I have a 1960 Kodiak Special Deluxe that I've been saving for that purpose. It has a delaminated lower limb, and has nasty finish overall. It would be neat to have a drop point skinner that incorporated the accent line of the old bow riser. CKruse

I have a '63 Type I Dogleg the exploded on me.  I sent  it to a guy in Arkansas who glued it back together for me.  One limb now looks like a full recurve and the other is like semi recurve.  Not a shooter by any means.

Makes a nice wall hanger though
