What year is my Bear Polar?
« on: October 07, 2008, 10:13:00 PM »
I have a 48# Bear Polar and I was wondering if someone could tell me what year it is? The ser# is P-11579.
Thanks for the help

David, does the riser/shelf look like this?  (I've replaced the leather, as it had rotted).

I was told this was a 1955, but I've not researched myself.  I have relatives who live near Cass City, and I've hunted in the thumb.  Nice place.

1953? I would guess from what I can see. reddish glass color?
I was born with nothing and I still have most of it left.

Ron, that's not a '55.  The '55 Polar is a semi-recurve with a one piece riser.  Most fo the 50's Polars (and the 1960) have the red glass ('53 on at least... have to check the earlier catalogs when I get home).  I have the '55, '56, '57 and '59 Polars.  Love every last one of 'em.  Still on the lookout for the earlier Polar (reflexed longbow) in the 50#+ range.
