guide gear 2000 gram rubber boots/Gloves

I am in the market for some new gear. Mainly boots and gloves. Never owned a pair of rubber boots (since I was a kid with the little buckles in front and bagies on my feet.). Is 2000 grams to much for just sitting? If you have tried this guide gear boot let me know what you think.Will be hunting hogs at shiloe in feb. I also would like a pair of water proof gloves that are tight fitting to shoot with if you have any sugestions. Thanks

generally speaking, when it comes to just sitting, you can't have too much insulation. If you're gonna do a fair amount of walking then the fit becomes more important.

They're fine for sitting but walking in them is like trudging through swamp muck.

For gloves, I use 3/4 finger wool all winter long in all conditions.  They slide right over my shooting glove leaving the tips exposed.  Keep the shooting hand in your pocket or under the other arm if it's cold.  For the bow hand, if your finger tips get cold while your holding your bow, just shove a hot pack between the back of the hand and glove.

BamBooBender hit it right on the head. Good boots for prolonged sitting are bad for walking and good boots for walking are usually not warm enough for prolonged sitting.

There is really no escaping it, you need several different pairs of boots. There are some hybrids but they are still not great for walking.

If it is cold you do not want to wear tight fitting waterproof gloves. Your hands will sweat and become cold. Try Molson's approach for the gloves.

When I am on a stand or in a blind I do not wear gloves. I just hang the bow on the hook and put my hands in my pockets. If it is really cold I use handwarmers.

Best combo that I've come up with is a good hiking boot with 500-600 gram insulation and then carry a set of insulated Boot Blanket Overboots.  If you are going to stand or sit for any length of time just slip on the overboots.  They are something extra to carry but they weigh nothing and they work well if you get cold feet.
Fingerless wool gloves and a handwarmer muff will keep your hands warm in the coldest temps.
