I have one now but have had many...just one mans thoughts OK ? they ai'nt no 1959 they do not shoot like one or feel like one or even smell like one to me.I stopped spending money on repro's because not one was ever what I wanted from a bow.
99% of replica's are very beautiful bows and most all shoot rather good. But for my money personaly I just buy 1959's and hope thier in good condition.Again this is just my thoughts on them...as I said most repro's are fine fine bows...bd

I've got a Saxon Kadiak,Joe. Its a good looking, hard-hitting bow. I'll try to get some pics this evening and I'll post them or send some to you PM. Randy Dehnel makes these bows and I have nothing bad to say about them. Mine is 60", 65#@28. Randy usually builds this bow at 62" which is a little odd in that Bear didn't offer it at that length. Mine is a tad heavy at 28" and jumps in a big way at my 29"plus draw length but its a real hard hitting bow. Because of what I do to my handles, Randy made my riser solid block but he normally uses the original I-beam pattern. I have nothing but good things to say about the bow and I've seen some others that looked great as well. Cosmetically I would put Holcomb's bows up with anyone's and there are several others as well that I just haven't shot. I love the lines of these bows and though it might sound sacreligious I prefer my takedowns and Super Ks for everyday shooting so I just don't use the repros or originals as much as they deserve. Google up Saxon Archery and take a look. BTW- where are you in Kentucky?   Grant

I'm in Clay Co. I hope to come across a '59 or a replica of one, I want one to hunt with and if its not gonna handle alot of shooting and hunting then I don't need it. I thought perhaps the replicas would outlast a 1959 year bow, I hope to be using it 50 years from now  :)  I want what the '59 Kodiak offers in looks and shooting in a 48# to 53# bow, If you have have one shoot me a Pm, I got a home for it  ;)

Here's a pair of Holcomb 59ers.  The Purpleheart I-Beam bow is 48# the Maple I-Beamer is 55#.

Here's a few pics of one I picked up recently. It's a really sweet shooting bow and very nicely made by a gentleman in Colorado.

I've yet to hold a 59 repro that had the proper grip shape or feel.  A file works wonders.

oh yeah DD you got that right.I've reworked everyone I've owned and several different brands for customer as well.
Most 1959's had a small grip compared to the draw weight of the bow.I've seen plenty of 1959's over 60# and have never seen one just break in half at the throat of the grip.Something to be said for that purple heart and or maple ibeams from edge to edge for strength in the ibeams ahh ? bd

Here's my McCullough 59er. Ebony w/ Bocote I Beam and Overlay. Bamboo Cores, Dark Curly Maple Limb Veneers. 60" 50#@28". Quiet, fast & smooth. I'm very happy with it.

Can't really say which one I like BEST right now, (this one or my '59) but I know I'm keeping them BOTH!
