Some info needed on this woodie!

Picked this up and need some help as to the maker, no markings on the bow. I don't know who...check the dip in the limbs maybe that will help.  No tip overlays. 60" Thanks for your help in this...Bill

Tried to find some pictures of the Bud Hitt bows, Black Ace is the only one I can find and the Dickie Roberts, I found a metal takedown. But it does have some of the characteristic's of a Bud Hitt Bow. If someone has one let me know if it has limbs that are like the one I have posted...Thanks guys.....Bill

Here is a bow that I have that I believe is a Budd Hitt bow. All the pics that I have seen of his bow's have more bend in the limbs and also have that wedge where the limb meets the riser. I read somewhere that some are actually bolted like a three piece and then covered with that wedge of wood. I have since cleaned all the camo paint off of it and it is a really nice bow.

The bow that I have does have tip overlays. I don't know if I helped you out any but it is fun to compare and try to figure out the mystery of some of these old bow's. If only they could tell us their life story,    I wonder who had their hands on some of these old bow's that we own?

Henry....yep those limbs are different, I knew the Hitt bows had a bend in the limb but couldn't remember were it was at.....so the one i have looks to be by another....Thanks for the pictures......nice looking bow you have there.

  Another reason I wanted to find out if it was something that I shouldn't take the power sander to her to change the grip some.

I think Bill's is a Dickie's...and Henry's is a Hitt bow for sure.Henry's has the Bud Hitt limbs.bd

Well I'am glad you asked.I actually like those cam limb bows.Although I don't own one right now.They are good shooters and look pretty cool too.The cam limbs really do not out perform any other bows IMO.However that cam section and or limb wedge near the tip are to prevent limb twist rather then anything else(ala Harry Drake limb wedges).If you look at the limbs you will note the cam or wedge section is kind of like a strut it createts a support in the limb and keeps them from twisting.
Bill Stewart and Roy Coursey(Cook Mountian Archery)both built cam limb bows as well and both are some super good shooters.No limb twist should equal more stored energy.bd
