bow restoration?

I have BoDocs bow restoration class 101 on my favorites for referal purposes.  I do have a question tho.  Can you strip just the back of the limbs and refinish if the rest of the bow in in great shape.  I have a shakespeare that has flaking on the back side of the upper and lower limbs.  At first glance it looks as though its just the finish.

This will be my first attempt at putting a new finish on an old bow.

Hi Jon yes you can do just the back of the limbs.I would make sure and feather the edges good so you new finish will blend in nice.You would also want to make sure the new finish is compadable with the original.bowdoc

I did a 1959 Alaskan with stress in the back.  I sealed the cracks with Locktite, scraped them down following the good Doctor's restoration class instructions (page 9), sanded, and refinished with Tru Oil, 6 thin coats, feathered out on the edges.  Worked well, looks good.  Now all I need is the new decal.
