Look what I found
« on: May 31, 2009, 08:57:00 PM »
I was going through some stuff around the house today, getting ready for a garage sale and found these cool items made by Cliff Coe.Just thought you might enjoy some more Michigan archery history. This first one is an experimental take-down bow similar to the one found on page 60 of cliff's book "44 Years Behind the Bow".I got it from Cliff several years ago and he signed it for me.

This next one is just a bow in the making, one Cliff never finished.Kinda in it's early stages of being made.Just thought it was cool to see one of Cliff's bows before it was finished.Sight window is started but the grip hasn't been shaped yet.

That looks as though it was a flight bow and there is to be an extended grip bolted into the holes. Perhaps to be held by the foot? Or it is to go into a frame for a Xbow?

Ron,
I don't think it's a flight bow because it's as long as an average recurve bow.Aren't most of the flight bows rather short?I know it's hard to tell from the pics how long it is.I thought the holes maybe held it in some sort of jig to stabilize it.I'm not a bowbuilder so maybe someone else would know.
Cody- I wasn't planning on putting the Coe bows in the yard sale,I was just getting some other items together when I came across these.
