Portland 2000
« on: June 13, 2009, 05:06:00 PM »
A friend of mine asked for information about a bow he happens to own (he's no archer).

It is a 35# FITA T/D recurve with a golden medaillon saying "PORTLAND 2000". Judging by colors and overall design I'd say 1970s/80s, but to be honest I don't know sh*t about FITA bows.
Aluminium (?) riser with scale and three screw on stabilizers. He brought it to work today so no pictures, sorry.

Any information as to maker, date and value much appreciated. Thanks all!

The Portland 2000 was made by Marksman Bows Ltd. in England, UK. It was a popular bow in it's day in the UK. I am not sure how many years it was made but it is in their 1998 catalogue. Marksman bows went out of business in 2001 I believe after many years of trading.

You can see Marksman bows including the Portland 2000 for sale on UK 8bay regularly. Good shooting bow, limb fittings are not ILF.
