first chance of the season and.......wiff

yesterday was a sad day, ive been shooting sitka blacktails all fall with my rifle. once i had enough meat i started hunting with the bl hunter. yesterday i called a nice buck to within 33 yards and he spoted me so i took the shot and buzzed some fur off of his briskit. he then slowly walked off and i about cried. that is only the second chance at a buck and the ONLY chance with the bow, ouch

Is that THE Lee bow, Jason...the one I sprinkled all the magic mojo on? Cheer up, maybe that buck was out lookin' for a haircut anyway. No harm done if all you got was a little fur, and now you have some fly-tying material AND a good story to help pass the winter. Its really a win/win....especially for that buck, lol.
Happy Holidays to ya'!

I've been sharing and swapping bowhunting stories for over 25 years and this is the FIRST time I've ever heard of someone missing a shot! LOL
The GOOD NEWS is...that the Grilly sow with cubs that you didn't notice behind you was to busy laughing to finish her charge!!!

I feel your pain bro! Check out my post "missed twice" , that should make ya feel better. I am still looking to get my first trad kill too.
If it were not for my twin 14yr old boys getting their first ever deer this season, I would not have anything in the freezer....Terry

ive killed with the recurve just not a sitka black tail, they are soo sneaky in the dark woods. ive only killed one buck with the rifle and the oportunities for rifle kills dont come too often, in a day this year you might see 5 deer usualy all does and fawns, it was a heavy snow winter, skeletons everywhere. ive personaly never been that close to a buck and on the day that i could go bowhunting, this only means one thing, shoot more hunt more.
