Birth-year Bow '57 Kodiak Special

I've always had a hankering to have a Birth year bow. After Reading up on Bear 1957 bows I came accross this mismarked beauty on Flea-bay. This was posted as a 1953 left handed bear bow with a leather top spring arm quiver. I could tell she was a '57 by the tan glass and silk screen logo. And obviouly she's right handed. I've never bid on anything on "That Site" before. I figured someone would snipe her away. But, I won her for $125 and shipping. Got her in yesterday and I was surprised how good in shape she is. No stress cracks and the limbs pretty straight. I gently strung her and gradually drew her to full draw. This evening I dug out some old cerdars and gave her a workout. I agree with Rich Lopez; this is a fine shooting bow. Quiet and solid in the hand. No speed deamon but no slouch either. She will get to play in the woods this Fall. I think I better invest in a new string and brush buttons. Does anyone know if the tan ones are still available? Here are the specs:
53@28, 64"

I always liked those tan glass ones. I have a 57# one in great shape.

That is one of my fav old Bears. Very smooth and fast enough especially in that poundage. 64" was a special order bow.

Thanks Gang.. I wanted to also thank Wade Phillips for his Kodiak identification thread. It helped me greatly in identifing the real age of this bow. I'm going to take her for a practice course walk at ATAR. This bow begs to be shot. Jeff

Looks like a sweetie Jeff!
Can't wait to shoot it.
By the way, it's MUCH older than my birth year

Birth year or Big Bang Year? LOL
That's pretty sweet Jeff. Can't wait to see it flinging some arrows at ATAR. What spine woodies will you shoot with your new prize?

Hey Duane... I've got some tapered 55# laminated birch shafts from Beau Slaughter a while back at a blanket swap. I'm going to fletch them up just for this baby. See you soon. Jeff
