Help with bow info please
« on: July 15, 2009, 09:16:00 AM »
I'd like to know some info on this bow if anyone can tell from the small pictures.  I have the oportunity to buy this bow, but the seller doesn't know much about it and I don't know enough to tell by looking at the pictures that he provided.  He has told me that it's 62" and 45# and that's all I know.  Any info would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Brian

Looks like a semi-recurve Bear Cub, which I believe was made in 62" lengths during two periods...

1955-57 which is not the year of the bow pictured
1964-68 which appears to be the bow pictured

In the 1964 and 1965 the Cub was advertised as being made from assorted glass colors and assorted hardwoods, in the 1965 Bear Catalog on page 11, the Cub appears with light green glass and a zebrawood riser just like your two photographs above.

I'm not a Bear Cub collector, but have recently been working on a newly revised and simplified matrix to help identify some of the lesser known Bear Grayling Bows that many collectors generally do not focus on.

Will be interested to hear from the Bear Cub collectors if this is 1965 Cub or if the matrix needs some additional revisions...
