Super Kodiak ?'s
« on: July 30, 2009, 12:12:00 AM »
I have a few questions about a Super Kodiak I just purchased. I'm pretty sure its a 70's. The serial # is k29311. It is 40# and 60" long. It is in very good condition except the coin is missing. If some of you experts could help me out it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
Daniel

Daniel- you can get the bow dated here by simply posting a picture. To find a coin just put in a search for this forum and you'll have the problem solved by supper time.    GY

The K serial number indicates a 70s bow. If it is in fact a «coin» missing and not a «button» it’s most likely either a 1970, 71 or early 72. if there is no stab bushing, chances are it’s a 1970.

Ok, it has a stabilzer bushing. It has the bear glass powered super kodiak label on the front side of the limb. The riser is kinda greyish brown with a thin red strip through it about a 1/4" wide. I am at work right now. I will try to post pics this weekend. Also who refinishes these bows and how much does it cost? I'm afraid I will mess it up if I do it. I bought it for a bowfishing bow, but its awfully pretty to get wet and muddy.

I believe the SK's with a red stripe were made in 1973 and 1974.

does the place where the coin goes have the normal coin sized hole or is it a small square peg looking hole ??? if its 73-74 it would have had the raised plastic button rather then a coin.
If the bow has a flat coin and stabilizer bushing and the upper silk screen is on the belly or shooter side that would be a 1972.If the upper silk screen is on the back of the limb and has a stabilizer bushing that would be 1971.If the upper silk screen is on the back with no stabilizer bushing that would be a 1970 pics ??? bd

Thank you guys for the info. From what bowdoc said it has to be a 1971 model. I will post pics one of these days.
