A Zebra Polar
« on: August 10, 2009, 12:26:00 PM »
My Brother just picked this up for me at an auction sale this last weekend. He knew the wood looked different on it compared to my other bows that I have, so he decided to bring her home for me. I believe it is a 1961? Serial number is 12AC61 66" long and 35#. It is in real nice condition with no stress lines. The only problem it has is some darn holes. What is with these guy's screwing sights onto these bows? One other question was the glass more white when it was new or was it this pale yellow color? Anyway here are some pics of this beauty.

Zebra wood is one of my favorites too.  That's a beautiful bow.  Shame about those holes but they're not uncommon and can be filled.  I had sights on my first recurve also, but I taped them on....even back in the day I had an abhorance for holes in my bows.....
If your bow was left handed, I'd arm wrestle you for it.... :^)

Tom I can not arm wrestle very good left handed so if it was a lefty it would be your's. What would be the proper rest and side plate for this bow?

Henry,
That's a 1962 Polar...only year made with the Zebrawood riser.  They came with a feather arrow rest and just a small leather strike plate.  Here's a catalog page showing the bow and it's specs.  You can see the arrow rest and strike plate..

I have one of those, they are beautiful. The glass is a light yellow, not faded white.
