Gail Martin 50 th. anaversery take down
« on: August 19, 2009, 03:25:00 PM »
I just got a Gail Martin 50 Th. anaversery takedown bow today. It is 55#@28"  serial # 003
it is in 99 percent new condition.
My question is: Is this a collectors bow or should i just shoot it? I have never seen one before ( like I've seen it all).
Anybody got any thoughts on this, or know anything about it.

I am new to this forum. I really like it. Now that I am retired I have time to do something besides work. Glad I found you guys.

I don't think it is very old, maybe only a few years old.

Fire at will.

Check the 2001 catalog.
they tell me #003 was made in 2001
Hard to pry info out of Martin, but it can be done. I still don't know if it is collectable.
I hate to drag a new bow through the woods if it is going to be collectable. I am hard on them and I have a bunch of others I can scuff up.
I had it cronographed and it got a 180 with a 400 gr. arrow pulled at 55# 28" not impressive but within the 120+weight formula
thanks for the collecting advice, I am not a collector and know nothing of such I just shoot um, and they wind up with all kinds of dings and stuff on them. I have a Bear takedown that I found out was collectable after I modified it a little. oh well, it shoots great. I feel kind of bad about it though. I am rambling arn't I.
thanks, by

Well with a 003 serial number it is probably somewhat collectible. You are the judge, if it is something you don't want dings on, use another bow for hunting.
