« on: September 06, 2009, 10:00:00 PM »
Hello Guys, I stoped in at a older friends house to day and made it out to his gun shop.. When I walked in the door all I could see where bows and guns all over the place..Well I got talkin to him and he said he would sell me all his old bows for $500 for all I think he siad there are about 22 or 23 so that would make them about $20 each.. Thats a HELL OF A DEAL....LOL.. once I save up some $$$ I am going back to buy them.. Just wanted to show some pics..

Best,

Cody

Freedom Sartain was a postal worker from Michigan who made some recurve bows in the late 50's. I have one. They are simply marked: SARTAIN. I believe there is one in the bunch from what your pictures show. They are rare as not many were made. Maybe someone else will chime in with more info.

The gentleman's name is Fremont Sartain from Pinconning Michigan. He was a postal carrier for Bay City, and according to Cliff Coe's book "44 Years Behind the Bow",he never missed a single day of work for sick leave in the 39 years he delivered the mail there. He was one of the forming members of the Bay City Bowmen and held several different office positions including president. He retired from archery and the mail service and built his own home by hand near Saginaw Bay.He was a fantastic craftsman and painter,a skill he says he aquired from his father who was a professional painter.
 By the way Cody,nice find.

Cody....neat stuff....looks like one of Floyd Eccleston's clocks hanging there also, if you would asked him if he'd sell it..

Do you know what the pictures on the walls are of?
