Grumley Bush Bow?
« on: September 11, 2009, 12:43:00 AM »
Hi,

I found your website while searching for info on my dad's hunting bow.  I inherited it several years ago and got curious about it.  My dad was an avid bowman and we primarily hunted in the Grayling / Gaylord area.  My dad knew Fred Bear and we occasionally went to the museum.

The bow appears to be a Bear Archery by Grumley Bush Bow.  I have some photos and would appreciate any input or information you might have, including it's value. (I can't seem to imbed the photos in this posting.)

I also have a number of broadhead arrows that might be from Bear, although there are no markings (the arrors were hand made by me and my dad). Several look like they have pins through the base of the broadhead, and one has 3 blades.

Feel free to contact me at my e-mail if you have any interest or want any photos or information on this bow.

Thanks in advance.

Thanks Rick for your tip on how to upload pics.

The following are 4 images of the Bear bow that I created using photoshop:

This image shows the outside of the bow, grip and some type of feature on the lower limb I have never seen before.  The limb was obviously designed into the bow.

This image shows the inside of the limbs with the "Bear Archery by Grumley" inscription.

More shots of the inside portion of the bow limbs and grip. The grip is a little discolored, but the limbs are in excellent condition, not twisted or warped and do not show any stress marks.

The following is the Grumley Signature and the tip which made me think it was a Bear Bush Bow.

I'd appreciate it if anyone can properly identify it and give me some idea of it's value.

Thanks all.

here is a link to an older thread

and here

I am no expert, I have never held a Grumley bow. Still, I might be tempted to say that the script is not original. Compare the writing with the few pics on these threads.

Nice bow non the less.

Simon
