Please help.. Bow repair question
« on: September 13, 2009, 05:54:00 PM »
Done a real smart one today. Dropped a stand on my bow from 15'.    :knothead:
It looks worse in the pics but the glass is busted a little and the limb core boogered a little on the side about 1/8" deep from side to center the glass lam is seperated from the maple about 1" long by 1/8".
Can I fix this at home and how do I do it or do I need to send t oa bowyer. Season starts in a couple of weeks and this is the only bow I have to hunt with until late Nov.
Here are some pics.
Direst link to pics. I couldn't figure out how to resize

I just glued the laminations on an old Kodiak Hunter. Mine was at the grip into the riser. I read the bazzilion pages of the bowdoc repair tutorial, bought the super glue, bummed some syringes from my diabetic BIL and went for it.

An expert could probably find the repair but casual shooters can't. The bow functions flawlessly.

Looks like a busted core so I think you need some expert advice.

I've gotten several replies via PM and went to work on it right away. the pics look alot worse than the actual damage but she's got a booboo none the less. A piece of the maple core was boogered about the size of a pencil lead that's been dulled a little. the glass was delaminated about 1.5" length ways about 1/8" from the side and cracked a little.
Last night I glued it with super glue and clamped it over night. today cleaned it up with 180 grit and took it out and shot it a few times. Seems t obe fine except for little sliver of glass lifted and I assume I just didn't get the glue smooshed in that part good enough. Took a needle and lifted that a lttle and shot some mor glue in it and clamped that.
Keep your fingers crossed I think she's gonna live through it.
I'll let everybody know
