Minwax Wipe On Poly
« on: November 01, 2009, 08:30:00 AM »
For those of you who have used it before what did you use to apply it? rag, sponge brush, etc, and how many coats did you apply, I'm re-doing a newer Super K  that I applied snake skins to and thought the minwax might work well.

i have used it before.used a rag,the ones you buy in the paint dept. at wal-mart work great not alot of lint left over,i suppose you could also use a sponge never tried it.another good finish to use is tru-oil. as far as coats i use 3-4 with some fine steel wool sanding in between coats.

get a tac rag, 0000 steel wool, and apply with a  white cotton T shirt...ive done many bows with wipe on poly...turns out great and its a durable finish!

I use some finish applicator pads like these    finish pads
and they work well for me.  I don't have any good old t-shirts, or I'd probably use them if I did.  Oh yea, and I usually do 3 coats.

I use T-shirt as well.Cut it in a square and fold it over once or twice to thicken it up a tad.Works great.Finished a few bows and they turned out very good.Works well on arrows to.

Just used wipe-on, with good results. I used a lint free rag, and just a little poly. When I put it on too thick, it dried lumpy. I put on 5 coats, and it turned out better than I expected.
