Arrow flight w/bow quiver??
« on: December 08, 2007, 08:16:00 PM »
First time I've actually put a quiver on my BBO I made.Been shooting it for about 6 months with no quiver.Arrow flight has been fine, bow shoots great.Put an Eagle's Flight 4 arrow on it and now the arrows are tailing left.Moved the quiver around the limbs,up and down, tried to get it as close to fade outs as possible, but just can't seem to get the arrows to fly right with the quiver.Any recommendations??Anyone else have this problem??

Are you shooting it with a pretty loose grip?  Might need to grip the bow a little tighter to keep the quiver from turning the bow in your hand before the arrow gets off the bow.

Mike, that's interesting. I've shot these quivers on a wide variety of bows including horsebows which are extremely light. I haven't been able to see any effectby these EFA bowquivers on where the arrow impacted.

I compared these quivers to other so called lightweight quivers on the market, by shooting at a small bullseye at about 12 yards (one arrow at a time). Without a quiver the arrow was right on target for 5-6 shots. With a 4 arrow EFA Cherokee (which weighs about 4 - 4.5 ounces) attached and holding 4 arrows, it also shot on target for 5-6 shots. Then, shooting with a competitor quiver weighing about 9 ounces, the arrow started impacting about 2 - 2 1/2 inches left. A friend of mine was there at the time of this testing. He went through the same procedure with his bow, and had almost exactly the same results.

Hundreds of archer/bowhunters have said that they cannot tell that the EFA bowquiver is on the bow, by the way that the bow shot. No one until now has ever said that they had the results that you have.
I like to hear more about your results, and I have a number of questions such as: What is the weight of your bow? Did you have arrows in the quiver? and what was the weight of them?

Varmit,

You have discovered early on what many have yet to discover. The bow quiver does impact how your arrows fly because that quiver, with all the wt. in it, moves when you drop the string.  The reason many people no longer notice it is because their brain has learned to make small compensations over time to adjust for the arrow flight.
You see more and more hunters, both compound and stickbow/recurve shooters, no longer shooting with a quiver on the bow for that same reason.  Bow quivers still have their place like in a tree stand.  I have stopped using all of mine a long time ago.  I also found it made some of my bows "louder" when I shot. The quiver is also responsible for why some stickbow shooters no longer use aluminum arrows since the quiver causes the shooter to torque the bow which in turn makes the arrow strike the sight window making that aluminum sound.  Take that quiver off and those arrows are no longer noisy as they were.  Whatever you end up using have fun with it and don't trade that bow quiver away as you will find some situations where it is invaluable.
Keep flinging those shafts!

I love the quiver, don't get me wrong.I've used it on my Jeffery recurve(60" 60 @ 28"),and on my Dwyer Longbow(66" 58 @ 27").They both show no effects whatsoever that I can tell.Shooting 65-70 Birch shafts that weigh between 615-640gr total with WW heads. The BBO I have it on now is roughly 48 @ 28" and 66",using POC shafts, total arrow weight is about 500gr.............only use 3 arrows in the quiver on all bows.Couldn't tell a difference in noise, they're all very quiet bows with or without the quiver attached.

Also.....2fletch,thanks for taking an interest in this....talk about customer service!!Love your quivers, just confused about what's happening here.

BTW.....all arrows impact where I'm shooting no matter which bow, just see the left tail kick when shooting the lighter bow that I haven't noticed when shooting the heavier bows........

Is there a possibility the lighter weight bow,or bow/arrow combo doesn't sit well with the quiver??I'll have to pay attention to the grip, because I do use a light grip.Maybe I'll try to tighten up a little and see what happens, but if it doesn't happen with the other bows why with the BBO??

I also have a Tomahawk Diamond I just bought from a Ganger that's a lighter weight too,50 @ 28,maybe I need to try it on that bow to see if I get the same outcome??I shoot the same POC arrows from that bow as with the BBO,could it possibly be the lighter arrows??

Maybe if I try the heavier Birch arrows with the BBO??????Fishing here I guess, but really like the quiver on the bow and don't like using a back quiver or side quiver, just can't get used to them for some reason.

i shoot longbows and recurves with from 0 to 4 arrow bow quivers attached to the bows.

the best i've found (for one piece bows) is the slip-on/strap on variety as they tend to help dampen noise and are very easily adjusted.

i must also add here that i also use a mechanical release aid that i'm certain affects flight and noise from the bows.i shoot from 40 to 50 pounds draw weight (mostly in the mid 40's)

i find no perceptible descrepancy in arrow flight with the up to 4 arrow bow quivers.
i was told by a sales person, when purchasing an out-of-date newpaper that it was out-of-date...

i told her "i've been told i'm out-of-date, too"...

does that mean i'm up-to-date?

Delta bow quivers with the quiver brackets mounted forward of the riser and adjusted properly will improve vertical and horizontal balance.

I hated the negatives of balancing bow quivers until I got onto these.
Three things you cant take back, time past, harsh words and a well sped arrow

I like the boa 4 arrow quiver it adds weight to the bow which stablizes it when I shoot which actually gives me tighter groups. Also the rubber straps act like limb savers which dampen the sound and vibration through the limbs. Looks great too!
