Compare a TD mag riser to a TD wood riser
« on: March 13, 2010, 09:16:00 PM »
I am fortunate to own a '70 B riser, TD bow. I am hearing alot about the mag risers these days, just curious how the two bows compare?

For sure the Mag riser is a good shooter, but that old B is a piece of history and a stunning shooter too. They are amongt the more accurate bows I own(90 Bows).

Well, the wood handles are nice, but I loved my Mag risers! Probably because I bought my first, brand new in the box in 1984.

I always prefer function over fashion! Wish I hadn't sold them! Get you one, or 2!

Bryce- I'm in the wood camp but the mag risers have some benefits- firstly, you have a grip selection- high, medium, or low and secondly, the sight window is cut past center which may make it compatible with a wider variety of arrows. I only own one mag riser and four wood risers- B woods, A Mag. The magnesium riser is more economical for sure, works well and is usually durable. I'm not sure the riser is really that much more durable than the wood risers as many broke in the lower section beneath the limb socket but they show wear a little less and it doesn't hurt your feelings quite so badly to drop one. All in all, good pieces of equipment. But I'll still take my StyleI or II, lol.      Grant

Anybody have a stash of grips they may wish to part with?  I am looking for a 2R and 3R. Also, did Bear make the later model plastic hood quiver with a spring arm on top, and mounting hole at the bottom with a black hood vs the common green?  I seem to remember they did, but not sure about the year. One final question, will all the quivers I describe (usually an 8 arrow quiver) the same length to fit both A and B risers?

Probably not the place for this, but I have a 3R grip I would love to trade for a 2R.
