Bear Take down limbs

Just bought a set of " green Tips" and they are marke 2b 60".
   was on the FAS and saw the same limbs with the same markings, also saw a set of "White tips" marked 2b62" what gives ???
  This is not the first time i have seen this, which is right???

Not 100% of this but I believe the gainesville green tips were all marked 2B-Serial Number and were all the same length which made a 60" bow on a B, 56" bow on an A and a 66" bow on a C.

The Grayling limbs were designated 1, 2 or 3 for length.

A riser:
#1 limbs = 56" AMO
#2 limbs = 58" AMO
#3 Limbs = 60" AMO

B riser:
#1 Limbs = 60" AMO
#2 Limbs = 62" AMO
#3 Limbs = 64" AMO

C riser:
#1 Limbs = 66" AMO
#2 Limbs = 68" AMO
#3 Limbs = 70" AMO

Nick, now i'am really confused, are you saying there are only one length gainsville green tip and that is 60" on a "B" riser???

Yes, as far as I know that is correct. Green tips were only offered in 60" on a B.

Someone please correct me if I am wrong.

I'm no expert on this but I have several sets of green tip limbs and several sets of the modern FF limbs and have been shooting the Bear t/d for several years now.  Following is what my understanding is; I do know that the 2B does not mean that the limb is a #2 limb. The green tip limbs were marked for the B riser.  Reason, I guess, is that the A riser was only made in '69 through '71, along with the original B risers.

Production of those bows stopped when the compound bow hit the scene in the early '70's.

Bear continued with the production of the magnesium risers in the '70's but I'm not sure which color tip limbs were made with those risers, my guess would be the red and/or white tip limbs.  

The green tip limbs that you speak of, were made when the Green stripe B handle came back in production somewhere in the early '80's; but only the B handled, not the A.  Therefore, the limbs were marked for a B handle; the 2B that you speak of is just part of a serial number marking.  If a green tip is marked 60" then that is a #1 limb; 62" would be a #2 and 64" would be a #3.  

The A handle came back in production, my guess, is in the late '90's along with the modern FF limbs and newer B handles.  Those FF limbs are marked with lengths and poundages for both A and B handles.

If it's a set of greenies, the #2 means its second generation. When Bear reintroduced the T/D in the eighties the only riser made was a "B". The serial numbers on the limbs aren't real good indicators of production dates. The number "2" in the early seventies would have been indicative of the middle length limb- 58" on an "A" and 62" on a "B." Don't build more into your concern than there is grounds for. Your limbs will make 60" on a B riser, period.  Grant
