Bear Archery Sharpening and Deburring Tool?
« on: August 26, 2010, 12:28:00 PM »
I have what I consider a unique Bear Archery item, which means I've never seen another one. Any info would be appreciated. I can e-mail pictures, but I'm not looking to sell. What I have is a cast aluminum Cam-Nu-Edge "Sharpening and Deburring Tool". It has this info printed on one side in red and Bear Archery Company, Grayling, Michigan in red on the other side. I believe this is the fore-runner of the small plastic tool Bear Archery sold in the 60's. Unlike the later plastic model, this one is cast aluminum with finger grooves. It is really quite nice but would have been costly to produce.I cannot find references of this tool in any of my old archery catalogs. Thanks for your help.

Bill -

Have seen several of these CAM-NU-EDGE "Sharpening and Deburring Tools".

This one came new unused in the original plastic box that was inside the original cardboard shipping box from Bear Archery Company. Note Running Bear logo. There are also a couple of Howard Hill deburring tools in this photograph.

This one has a green sticker on it, no red lettering.

Thanks Wade. Some of the red writing has rubbed off mine. The C on Cam-Nu-Edge is missing. Do you know if this item was sold at retail or was  it a gift to the Bear Archery dealers? Gotta love this stuff.

For those that might want to see my pictures please refer to the one above. It is much better than mine. Additional comments and input will be appreciated.

Wade

Is there anything that Bear put out that you do not have.

That is a good topic for a new thread.

Post pictures of old Bear artifacts that you think Wade Phillips does not have.  Good luck with that.

Not here though...Don't want to hijack Bill's thread

Jack -

I don't have any of Fred Bear's personal hunting socks.

The are lots of other Bear things that I don't have too, just can't think of any more off the top of my head right now.    ;)

Jack -

You probably could have bought all of it for a song at Fred Bear's estate sale. That is one sale that we all would have had fun at, had we known about it.

Went to an old Robin Hood Archery Victory Edition catalog and found Cam-Nu Sharpening and Deburring tool with safety guard. Appears Cam-Nu made the one pictured above especially for Bear Archery. It has replacable tungsten carbide blades set at a 14 degree angle.
