What do you know about this old Bear bow?

My buddy found this bow in his Grandfathers house after he passed away. He new he was a bowhunter but never saw this bow before now.
I told him I'd ask you guy's about the bow. He never wants to part with it ,any history behind it. Could Fred have actually handled this 1953 bow? Was this a top of the line bow for its day? Design specifics? Stuff like that.
The black spots are something splattred on the bow and it comed right off. The bow is mint!

Good looking target bow, serial # might give the year but it is probably from the '60's. Good smooth shooters, usually long and light draw weights. Sure that other folks can fill in more info.

1953 is the patent year for a 'working recurve' it was patented in Canada while waiting for the US patent. Tamerlane was Bears top of the line target bow-that one looks like a 1964 with the wood trim in the riser edge at the back of the bow.

Yep a 1963 or 1964 and usually the 69 inch is a little more desired than the 66 inch but in that weight a 66 would be better to hunt with so who knows. In the 69" it was a top of the line target bow and value opinions are not permitted to be given in this forum. Jim

It doesn't appear that the bow has the factory installed adjustable sight.I believe the bow is a 1963 model, the 1st year for the Tamerlane and one of the nicest looking Bear bows ever produced IMHO.Nice.

I agree with John. 1963. Beautiful piece- one still hangs in the Metropolitan Museum in New York. As far as value- directly related to how bad someone wants it. GY

Only way to know the value is to put it on the auction site, but you said he does not want to sell it.
1963 Tamerlane.
