A little help with a Bear Cub?
« on: November 03, 2010, 07:25:00 PM »
I ran across a Bear cub for sale and was thinking about getting it for my wife. Can one of you Bear experts help me out on date (pretty sure its 1953) and any thoughts about this particular year of cub? Here's what I know.

Canada 1953.  A  VB923  62 in.  43#.

Thanks guys!

The 1953 is a patent date, not necessarily manufacture date. KYArcher

That should be a '55-57 Cub; 1953 is the patent date.  What color is the glass?  Standing Bear Decal or silk screens?  Cut in shelf or a wedge of leather?

My '55

I apparently didn't take pics of my '56 and '57.  They both had black glass.

Here are a few more to go on. As Jeremy stated there are several things to look for.

Thanks guys! I'm going to go ahead and buy it. If I don't like it, maybe i'll give it to my younger brother and try to convince him to put the training wheels away.
