Good Find
« on: December 02, 2010, 04:50:00 PM »
Friend of mine called today to tell me about an old Bear longbow that another friend had seen for sale on consignment in a store. It had a tag marked $50 on it and thought that I might be interested. I looked up the store telephone number and gave them a call. I asked the owner if the bow had a model name on it. He said, "no" he didn't see a model name but it had some other writing on it.

I paid full price.

Thanks guys.

I've only gotten into the Bear collecting the last ten or eleven months but this is my second Grumley.

Larry,

I'll try to get some more pictures of the Bush Bow and the other one a Hunter in the next couple days. That is if I don't go off hunting for the weekend.

Bjorn,

This one has shelves on both sides.

Larry,

I don't want to give the impression that Grumleys are common anywhere but I know of a number of people that have one or more in my area. Even at that I got the first one from a good friend in Oregon who had acquired it from the original owner. It was bought new in Michigan, traveled to Oregon early in it's age and has returned home again.

Bjorn,

Sorry, I should have known better.

Hi Jack
I picked up my one Grumley in 1989 and have not found any since. I am constantly on the search for old bows and have been very successful in finding numerous glass recurves and longbows but very few quality self wood. I do have an Earl Grubbs I believe made in the 30's that I'm meaning to get posted to see if I can get more info on.
I do have faith though and will continue the pursuit......It's All Fun
