Filling Holes in the Riser
« on: March 07, 2011, 09:23:00 AM »
I have a few old bows I am restoring and had a question.

When there are holes drilled in the front of the riser where a sight used to be how do I fill them and still get them to match the Black Fiberglass?

Thanks

Tenbrook

I just got my pc working and have not tried to do pics as yet.But as soon as I can get this stuff all set up.....I was thinking we could go over several different steps and touch on some wood and fiberglass hole fillings maybe.Plus I got a new camera for crispy clean pics of broken bows ???  bd

I'm really interested in the holes on wood filling and matching.Bowdoc after taking your instuctions on sand the glass starting at the riser and working to the tips I refinished my first and it worked perfectly! Thanks.
I would've taken better care of myself,if I'd known I was gonna live this long!

I did this a while back on a Super Grizzly with black glass, and using the advice I got here it turned out pretty well.  Bowdoc and reddogge, jack shanks, and stumpkiller and others had the advice and pictures that let it turn out so well.

I didn't take any pictures except before and after, but here is a link to the thread.

bd, Your not the only one who gets frustrated with technology. Life was definitely simpler without it, but when it works it gives me cool access to good info. Anxious for your 101 upgrade. Looking back several years in this site's history you can see there was a lot of good participation and knowledge that was shared. I would like to see some of that come back. Hang in there!!

hey Larry funny you mention the thing about SHARED info ? I been on several sights the last 2 days now that I have my machine back in top form well its working anyhow.
But I read a post on another sight that some fellow had writen about other folks not shareing there info on other web sights.Like if someone needed info go to that sight. And they should NOT post there shared free info places like oh lets say Tr.com sticwhatever.com and here.
Wow LM I was a little shocked to say the least.Man oh man all the free info we all share and then someone wants to pull willie ???????? yikes.....Well needless to say I know where I'll be posting and not posting MY free shared info.
Its so cool to have your pc back I love em again bd

bd, Don't know where this person was coming from. I have really only been able to take advantage of this site for the past year and I can honestly say everyone has been more then willing to either share info, direct me to a link or to another person directly. Now I just need to get organized!! Yeah........

OOOP's Back to filling holes.
