« on: April 23, 2011, 09:38:00 AM »
I have a friend looking at this model recurve Its a 52 inch long bow, Its In good shape with a slight twist In the lower limb, the person wants $30.00 for It. I noticed the limbs have no string grooves????? what do you guys think, he Is just getting started. Thank you. also do you think the twist Is a big deal?? and how hard do you think It would be to take out?

Pretty hard to beat a $30 Shakespeare although it is a very short bow so warn your friend the pitfalls of shooting those if he has a fairly long draw (over 28"). Twists can be worked out by gently overtwisting them a little at a time. Beware of using heat as you can damage that old glue.

Maybe use the twist as a negotiating point since the bow may be a pig in a poke.

I have the same bow, 52" 45@28. I have a 27" draw and it shoots quite well. I have a B-50 string on it and haven't had any problems without string groves. Great starter bow. I still shoot mine once in a while for fun.
